I've long walked in the local cemetery. It appeals to me as a history nerd; as an artist; as a woman who just wants to be left alone while she exercises; and as a lover of wildlife. Indeed, I owe my growing love of foxes to said cemetery, as it is brimming with them! Theirs is a timeless, everyday magic, immune to human troubles. Any walk graced by their presence is instantly special, be they hunting squirrels or pausing to enjoy the last of a brief rain shower.

The few fox photos I've been able to take, between their speed and my being lost in the moment, are of them sunning themselves atop headstones. Foxes also use the additional height to keep watching over their dens during kit season. Striking though they are, I never post my headstone photos for fear of revealing the foxes' territory--I owe them too much joy to do otherwise. This is my compromise, that I might share a small piece of their magic with you. Only the wings in my painting are fanciful, I promise.
