Acrylic on canvas board
Like "A Fox Named Fable," this painting was inspired by the Medieval exhibits at the Art Institute of Chicago. I've always found reliquaries fascinating, and the museum had some particularly unusual and unusually beautiful examples. Given that glass was quite expensive in Medieval times, most reliquaries featured windows carved from rock crystal; I was enchanted to find one that was a hollow rock crystal heart. The snow leopard's eyes decided the rest!
