Paintings: Night of the Living Peeps

9 x 12"
Acrylic on canvas
Commission / SOLD

A dear friend of mine recently gave me an open commission, the only requirement being that the painting be either beautiful or silly... which brings us to my thought process.

Every morning, I spend an 1-1/2 hours walking in the local cemetery. Aside from good exercise, it's essentially meditation in motion, my mind wandering happily as I enjoy the morning sunlight filtering through the trees, spilling over the monuments and gardens. Roughly 1/2 a mile up the street are several grocery stores, and the Monday after Easter, I found myself debating whether I should check out the sales candy. *cue stream of consciousness* "I could get Peeps for Mel (she loves Peeps)... What to do for her painting? I could do a portrait of a peep..." *stopping in my literal tracks, grinning at the cemetery before, behind, and all around* "NIGHT OF THE LIVING PEEPS!!!"

And that, my friends, is how many a painting idea is born!
