Make-Shift Angel, the novel, is now available!

Take from her what you will--she will still create. She must.

When I painted my first "Make-Shift Angel" back in 2007, I didn't expect it to become a series, but time has proven otherwise. This particular angel was inspired by its predecessor, on which I worked for an entire day with no breaks. My hand and eyes were not happy after the fact, and indeed, I usually schedule breaks (complete with phone alarms) for that very reason. I've often wondered what I would do if my hands or eyes were taken away from me--I've yet to hit upon an answer, aside from this angel. While I am right-handed, there is a touch of red on the pinkie of her left/brush-hand, as I often blot and blend with mine.

That said, I feel I should also say that I'm an incredibly happy person, listen to largely upbeat music while I paint, and, thanks to my chilly studio, was wearing my Godzilla slippers the entire time I worked on what is a fairly dark piece. That said, I am ridiculously proud of how the discoloration on her hands came out. It hurt to throw the watermarks on and take the file quality down, but then, those necessary evils always do.
